Sorry for the lapse...so let's catch up:
The Predators broke out an oldie but a goody from the soccer strategy scrap heat by playing "catenaccio" (or as Jason Cohen called it "nacho-nacho") against the undefeated New Rochelle United. It worked. The Predators won 1-0 thanks to air tight defense and a marvelous breakaway goal by John Campanile. Goalie Ethan Jacobson had his first clean sheet of the regular season.
A week earlier, the Predators tied Rivertowns 2-2. Peter Tinaj put a direct kick in "the upper 90". Charles Bohan also scored.
The strong showing in recent weeks was welcome after a frustrating 0-4 stretch. The boys showed a great deal of determination. Our new players (Michael, Jovin and Edo) have improved dramatically and our veterans continue to polish their skills (Jed, Anthony, Daniel, Patrick and Eamon).
Division 3 play is very challenging and unforgiving. A lucky bounce here, one less mistake there and the Predators could easily have won any of those games. The boys were disappointed but they never gave up. They remained committed to each other, their training sessions and our team practices on Saturday. They boys clearly respect the game and their teammates. We are very proud of them.
The Predators will finish their season next week against arch rival Eastchester. A win might keep the Preds in Division Three (their record would be 2-4-3...which is respectable at this level). Sunday's finale should be a fun match.
